Mangrove Jack Park - Dog Leash Free area - No Fence

Mangrove Jack Park sits beside a small lake in Helensvale's canal-side estate country on the northern Gold Coast, and its off-leash area is the unfenced kind: open grass where dogs can run and, the main local draw, take a swim in the lake. A walking loop circles the water, so it doubles as an easy on-lead exercise park if your dog is not ready for free range.

The dog setup

There is no fence anywhere in the off-leash zone, so this is a recall test rather than a containment park. Dogs get open grass for running, lake access for swimming and waste bins on site, but no dog water point, so bring a bowl. The lake water level moves with the seasons, and a swim straight after heavy rain is best skipped while runoff settles.

The park sits close to the M1, making it an easy detour from Helensvale or the northern Gold Coast suburbs. Street parking is available nearby and bus stops on Hope Island Road serve the area. Allow extra time for parking and entry routes while the roadworks reshape the surrounding network.
