Salix Reserve East

Salix Reserve East is an open, off-leash dog exercise area off Mildura Drive, Helensvale, separated by the road from the main Salix Reserve. It's a grassy suburban park for running and socialising, open 24 hours, though daylight visits are best for visibility. There's no fence, so it suits dogs with reliable recall.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash within the marked Salix Reserve East boundaries only; keep them leashed walking through the western reserve and the car park. Effective voice control at all times, and dogs are not permitted in the children's playground at the Fairhaven Court end. Bin your dog's waste, and supervision is for someone 17 or over.

What's there. It's open parkland with park benches for owners, some shade from mature trees, and a small fenced playground near the Fairhaven Court entrance. Wheelchair-accessible parking and access are provided. Bring your own water bowl and bags.

Getting there. Access is via Mildura Drive, with parking near the entrance. Helensvale Station (G:link tram and heavy rail) is the nearest hub, a short drive or longer walk away, and local buses run nearby streets.

Quietest in the middle of the day; weekday mornings before 8 and afternoons from 4 to 6 are busiest, and weekends fill up too. If your dog is anxious, time your visit outside those peaks for a calmer run. Good for confident dogs with solid recall.
