NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort, Gold Coast

NRMA Treasure Island is a big family holiday resort on the Broadwater at Biggera Waters, with pools, a water park, mini golf and a jumping pillow. It takes dogs, but only in selected pet-friendly cabins and on powered tent and caravan sites, so where you book decides whether the dog can come.

The dog setup

Pets are allowed in designated pet-friendly cabins and on powered sites only. Dogs stay free on sites, while cabin stays carry a fee of $15 per pet per night, with a maximum of two pets per booking. Declare the pet at booking, sign the pet waiver on arrival, keep dogs on lead around the resort, and never leave them unattended in your accommodation.

Max: the pet-friendly cabins are a subset of the park and they go first in school holidays, so lock in the dog package before you book the rest of the trip.

Who it suits

This is a full holiday-park setup geared to families, so expect activity and noise rather than a quiet retreat. That suits a social, settled dog more than a nervous one. Confirm current terms directly when you book, because resort policies move.

Getting there

The resort fronts the Broadwater at Biggera Waters, between Southport and Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast's northern end. It is an easy turn-off from the M1, and the waterfront paths start close to the gate for lead walks along the foreshore.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-lead beach run, The Spit Dog Beach is a short drive south, and the fenced enclosure at Nick Pavlis Park Fenced Dog Park covers the inland side. For coffee, L'Etranger in Biggera Waters welcomes dogs outside.
