Abbott Park Fenced Dog Park

Abbott Park Fenced Dog Park at 12 Woodlands Way, Parkwood keeps the promise in its name: a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash enclosure open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On a Gold Coast map full of unfenced sports fields, a secure yard that never closes is the reason to head here.

The dog setup

Off-leash time starts inside the double-gate fence, and only there. Dogs must be on lead in the surrounding parkland, along the walkways and near the playground and barbecue spots. Once through both gates, keep your dog under voice or visual control and supervise the whole visit; poo bags are provided and bins are on site.

The enclosure is grassed and partially shaded, with agility equipment to give a busy dog a job, a gazebo and benches for the humans, and a water tap with a bowl near the entrance. There is no separate small-dog area, so the whole yard is mixed sizes; use the double-gate system deliberately, closing one gate before opening the next, especially if your dog's recall is still a work in progress.

Worth knowing

The 24-hour access makes this a practical stop for shift workers and early risers, and there are no lights to worry about in the evening hours you might use them. Weekdays are the quiet stretch, with traffic building through Saturday and peaking on Sunday afternoons. The wider park adds a basketball court, bike track, outdoor fitness gear and playgrounds, so the dog park is one part of a busy neighbourhood reserve rather than an isolated paddock.

Getting there and parking

There is no dedicated car park. Street parking runs along Woodlands Way and the surrounding residential streets, with the Parkwood Boulevard side as an alternative entry point. It is an easy pull-in from the Smith Street Motorway corridor between Parkwood, Molendinar and Ashmore.

Close by with the dogs

For a post-run coffee, The Brick Cafe in Molendinar and The Flying Horse Cafe in Ashmore both do dog-friendly outdoor seating. The Napper Road Dog Agility Park at Arundel is the nearby option if your dog wants more equipment time.
