The Brick Cafe

The Brick Cafe occupies a unit in the Industrial Avenue complex at Molendinar, an inner Gold Coast light-industrial pocket that has quietly produced some of the city's better cafes. This one pairs classic breakfast and lunch with genuinely good homemade Thai food, and it gets the dog-owner basics right: dogs are welcome across both indoor and outdoor seating, and staff bring water bowls and treats without being asked.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs can settle with you inside or out, which gives you a wet-weather option most outdoor-only cafes cannot offer. Water arrives on request or unprompted depending on the shift, but pack a collapsible bowl to be safe. The cafe is popular and the industrial space carries foot traffic and kitchen noise, so keep your dog tucked under the table on busy mornings; a settled dog is one the staff will happily welcome back.

Worth knowing

The menu spans eggs benedict, the breaki burger and cabinet sweets, then swings into Thai territory with laksa, pad see ew and massaman curry that regulars rate as the real draw. Coffee holds its own against the specialty roasters nearby. Hours are 6:30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 1pm Saturday, closed Sunday, so it is a weekday-and-Saturday operation.

The address is 9a/27 Industrial Avenue, Molendinar. There is free on-site parking in the complex plus street parking around the estate, and Ashmore and Benowa are both a few minutes away.

While you are out there

For a run before breakfast, the Scenic Park Fenced Dog Park at Benowa has separate large and small dog zones with agility gear, and the Cabana Offleash Dog Area adds a calm waterfront dip. The Pizzey Offleash Dog Area at Mermaid Waters is another short drive. For a second coffee, Chanoyu Cafe at Nerang is nearby.
