Nick Pavlis Park Fenced Dog Park

Nick Pavlis Park Fenced Dog Park is the smaller, quieter answer to Labrador's big off-leash parks: a fully enclosed run on Whiting Street set inside a neighbourhood park, best suited to quick exercise sessions and calm socialising rather than a big-park free-for-all.

The dog setup

The off-leash zone is fully fenced and kitted with agility apparatus, plus bench seating around the edge for owners. The wider park adds a playground, fitness stations and shaded grass patches, which makes it an easy family stop where one half of the crew plays and the other half supervises. Dogs are not allowed in the children's playground, even on lead.

The rules are the standard Gold Coast set: dogs go on lead to enter and leave the fenced zone, then off lead inside under the voice control of someone aged 17 or over. Any dog showing aggression comes out straight away. Clean up and bin the waste, and keep your dog registered and collar-tagged while off lead in a public place.

Worth knowing

Traffic is light compared with the larger Gold Coast parks, which is exactly why owners of reserved or smaller dogs pick it. Busiest stretches are early morning and the weekday late-afternoon walk; a weekday mid-morning or mid-afternoon is the calmest window. If your dog finds the afternoon rush at bigger parks overwhelming, this is the Labrador park to try first.

Getting there and parking

Find the park on Whiting Street, Labrador, just off the Marine Parade area. Street parking along Whiting Street is usually available, and local bus routes service the suburb.
