Moreton park DOG PARK Labrador

Moreton Park is an open, unfenced off-leash foreshore on Marine Parade in Labrador, running along the calm waters of the Broadwater. The draw is the water itself: a sandy and grassy stretch where a confident dog can run flat out and paddle in sheltered water rather than surf.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash only within the signed foreshore zones. On the paved pathway, in the picnic areas and around the playgrounds they must be back on the lead, and they are not permitted in the children's playground at all under City of Gold Coast rules. Bins are provided along the foreshore, and there is no fencing anywhere on this stretch.

Water and terrain

This is the sheltered Broadwater, not open ocean, so the water stays calm and suits paddlers and swimmers alike. At low to mid tide you get a wide sandy run; at high tide the beach shrinks and you are mostly on the narrow grassy strip behind it. Natural shade is limited along this section, so bring water and plan around the sun on hot days.

Max: no fence and a busy road right there. If your dog's recall is shaky, keep the lead on until you are well out onto the open sand.

Getting there and parking

The park runs along Marine Parade near Len Fox Park, with street parking along the parade itself. TransLink buses run the Gold Coast Highway corridor nearby, and the whole stretch is walkable along the Labrador foreshore path if you are coming from Southport or Biggera Waters.

When to go

Time it with the tide: low to mid tide on a weekday morning gives the most beach and the fewest dogs. Weekends draw the Broadwater crowd of swimmers, kayakers and families, so early starts win in summer. This stretch best suits water-loving dogs with solid recall.

While you're out there

For a swim-focused morning, The Spit Dog Beach is just up the road at the northern end. If you need a secure perimeter instead, Musgrave Offleash Agility Dog Park is fully fenced with agility gear, and for coffee afterwards Papercup Coffee is a local Labrador option.
