Milton Gray Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Milton Gray Reserve is a small neighbourhood park at 216 Wattletree Road, Malvern, built for quick off-leash sessions rather than big destination outings. Dogs run free between 5pm and 9am daily, and the smart lighting keeps it usable for an evening visit right through winter.

Keep dogs leashed inside the fenced playground and the sports areas, and pick up waste straight away; bins are on site. A water station with a dog bowl covers drinks, but carry bags and a spare lead as usual.

The reserve runs between Wattletree Road and Wheatland Road and splits its personality: the Wattletree end is a quiet garden with a pergola and seating, while the Wheatland Road end is where families and dog walkers gather. There is a playground with accessible equipment, a basketball half-court and BBQs, so it works for a mixed outing. Just after 5pm on weekdays draws a social crowd of locals finishing work, which suits dogs who like company; mid-morning or mid-afternoon before 5pm is the quietest stretch, though those visits are on-leash only.

Max: size up the boundary yourself before unclipping. This is a street-corner reserve, not a fenced yard, and the road is close enough to matter.

The reserve sits on Wattletree Road in Malvern, with parking on site and on surrounding streets such as Cummins Grove. The number 5 tram along Wattletree Road stops close by, which makes it an easy car-free visit from Armadale or Glen Iris.

Close by with the dogs
