What visitors mention
Malvern Cricket Ground's off-leash area is a fenced 1.2-hectare oval on Lansdowne Road, a solid pick when you want your dog to actually run rather than potter around a strip of grass, with grandstand seating and floodlights that stretch the usable hours into winter evenings.
The rules. The oval is open for off-leash use except when cricket, lacrosse or other organised training and matches are on, so check before you head over during club season. Dogs need to stay under control and non-threatening to others, and must be leashed near the playground and surrounding paths. Bring your own bags as backup even though bins are provided.
What's there. Full perimeter fencing and gates make recall less critical than at open reserves. There's a water fountain for dogs, bench and grandstand seating, and mature trees for shade around the edges. Floodlights mean you can still use it after dark in the colder months.
Getting there. The ground sits at 12-14 Lansdowne Road, Malvern, an easy walk from Malvern Station. Several tram routes stop nearby on Waverley Road and High Street. On-street parking around Lansdowne Road is limited, so arrive early on weekends.
Nearby with the dogs. Station Street and Malvern Road have a run of dog-friendly cafes with outdoor seating, including spots right near Malvern Station, handy for a coffee before or after a lap of the oval.

When to go. Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are quieter than the after-work and weekend rush. Steer clear during lacrosse and cricket training blocks, and if the oval's full, Central Park Malvern is a short drive away as a backup.
