Armadale Reserve Off Leash Park is a long, narrow grassy strip on Sutherland Road, a quiet residential reserve that locals rely on for a proper off-lead run without leaving the neighbourhood.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash under effective voice control across most of the reserve, but must go back on lead near the small children's playground at the eastern end. The City of Stonnington caps off-lead parks at four dogs per person, and you need to carry a leash with you at all times even while off-lead.

What's there. Shady established trees, several benches, and a water tap with a bowl on the southern side. Bins and bags are supplied for clean-up. There are no public toilets on site, and lighting is limited, so this is a daylight-hours park.

Getting there. Street parking on Sutherland Road can be tight when the park is busy. Armadale and Toorak stations are both about a 10 to 15 minute walk, and the number 6 tram on Malvern Road is close by too.

Nearby with the dogs. Coin Laundry Cafe is a short walk away for brunch with outdoor seating once you've worn the dog out.

When to go. Weekend afternoons and Sunday evenings draw the biggest crowds; Tuesday and Thursday are noticeably quieter if your dog prefers fewer other dogs around. Good for confident off-leash dogs used to a bit of foot traffic nearby.
