Pawfield Park Fenced Dog Park

Pawfield Park is Glen Eira's fully fenced off-leash dog park on The Wedge, the western side of the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve at 2 Booran Road, Caulfield East. It is one of the better-equipped fenced parks in the area: separate small and large dog zones, a proper agility course, water on tap and mature trees for shade.

The dog setup

The main enclosure is fully fenced with a double-gated entrance, and there is a separate grassy area for smaller or more timid dogs. Inside, dogs run off-leash under effective voice control, with an obstacle course of around seven agility features to work through. The surface is a mix of compacted gravel and grass, which drains better than most but still turns muddy after rain, so a towel for the car is a good idea. Wheelchair-accessible paths and a bag-and-bin setup make the logistics easy.

Max: the double gate is there for a reason. Latch the first before opening the second, especially if your dog bolts for open space.

Worth knowing

The park sits inside the wider racecourse reserve, so on event or race days access and parking can shift. Leash your dog within 20 metres of any organised sport or event on the reserve, and check signage if you are visiting on a race meeting day. Glen Eira's standard rules apply: stay in the park with your dog, step in early if play turns rough, and leash up and leave if things go wrong.

Getting there and parking

Entry is via Booran Road, with free parking nearby on the reserve edges. Caulfield Station is a short walk away and trams run along Glen Eira Road, so reaching it without a car is realistic. Early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays are busiest with the regulars; mid-morning on a weekday is the quiet window.

Close by with the dogs

The wider Caulfield Racecourse Reserve off-leash dog park occupies the centre of the track if you want open space beyond the fenced wedge, and Packer Park in Carnegie is another Glen Eira option nearby. Spilt Milk on the Carnegie strip sorts the coffee.
