Spilt Milk is a tiny, tightly-run coffee and toastie spot on Neerim Road in Carnegie. It is a genuine local favourite for dog owners, small enough that you will get to know the regulars, and the kind of place that keeps treats on hand for four-legged visitors.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out the front. It is a small space, so do not expect a big courtyard, just a few tables on Neerim Road with room to tie up or sit your dog beside you. Staff are known for offering water and the occasional treat without being asked.

Known for. Strong coffee and gourmet toasties, the truffle mushroom version in particular, in a compact, retro-styled fitout.

Getting there and parking. On Neerim Road, a short walk from Carnegie railway station on the Cranbourne/Pakenham line. Free street parking is available on Neerim Road and the surrounding side streets.

Nearby with the dogs. Koornang Park is close by for a stretch of the legs, and Murrumbeena Park a little further out has more room to properly run.
