Harber Fenced Dog Park

Harber Fenced Dog Park on Harber Drive in Armadale is a fully fenced, free off-leash area with separate sections for large and small dogs, open around the clock. That combination makes it one of the safer bets in Armadale for nervous dogs or ones still working on recall.

The dog setup

Dogs run off lead inside the fenced area but must stay under voice control and supervision at all times, and you should carry a lead on your person even while inside. The entry uses double gates, so make sure the first gate closes before opening the second. Clean up with the bins provided, remove any dog showing aggression straight away, and standard council rules on restricted breeds apply. The park adds gazebos, benches and trees for shade, a small agility course, and a sandpit for diggers.

Max: use the small dog section if yours is easily overwhelmed. The main area gets high energy fast once it fills up after work.

The vibe

Weekdays around 4:30pm to 6pm are the busiest stretch as people arrive after work; early mornings or early weekday afternoons are quieter if your dog needs more space. The park is lit for safe evening visits. Water taps are on site but have been reported as unreliable in parts of the park, so bring your own water as backup. A playground and basketball court next door cover the kids.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Harber Drive, reachable via Carradine Road, with free on-site parking and wheelchair-accessible entry. Armadale Station is the nearest train stop, a short drive or bus ride away.

More off-leash nearby

John Dunn Memorial Park in Kelmscott is the other major fenced ground nearby, with separate areas of its own. For after the run, Armadale Park Cafe is the handy local stop, and if you are happy to drive into the hills, Last Drop Elizabethan in Bedfordale welcomes dogs at outdoor tables.
