What visitors mention
The short version. The John Dunn Memorial Park fenced dog park in Kelmscott is a fully enclosed off-leash park at the rear of the reserve off Third Avenue, split into three separate fenced sections so you can match your dog to the right group. It is well regarded for clean, open grassed runs and a friendly regular crowd.
The rules. Dogs can be off-leash inside the fenced sections, but must be on-leash in the car park and the surrounding parkland. The park is generally open daily from around 6am to 9pm. Keep your dog in sight and under voice control, pick up after them using the bags and bins provided, and take any dog showing aggression out straight away. The three-way split means you can put small, timid or older dogs in a calmer pen away from the big runners.
What is there. Double-gated entry so nobody bolts on the way in or out. Inside there are agility obstacles for a bit of training, sand pits for the diggers, and water dispensers to keep everyone hydrated. Shaded seating under patios and mature trees gives owners somewhere to sit, and there is free parking near the entrance.
Getting there. The park is on Third Avenue, easily reached off Albany Highway, and it is within walking distance of Kelmscott train station if you are coming in without a car.

When to go. It is busiest on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when the regulars turn up. For a calmer session, aim for a weekday morning, especially Monday or Thursday, or early afternoon. Take your own water in summer and mind the shade, as the open grass gets hot. Afterwards, Avocados nearby is a dog-friendly option for a meal or an overnight stay.
