Avocados Accommodation sits on four riverfront hectares at 2 Mount Street, Kelmscott, in the Perth foothills, and pairs quiet rooms with the Avocados bar and cafe on the same grounds. Dogs are taken in designated rooms only, which makes it one of the few proper pet stays in the Armadale area.

Dogs at Avocados Accommodation

One dog per room, and you must flag the dog when you book, because only certain rooms take pets. The pet fee is a one-off $50 regardless of how long you stay, payable when you collect the key. Outside the room the dog stays on lead at all times, given other guests and the working cafe and bar next door. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must use their own bedding, and owners clean up after them using the external bins. Extra cleaning charges can apply if the room needs more than a standard clean, and persistent barking can end a stay early.

Max: one dog, one room, fifty bucks, own bed. The riverside garden stroll afterwards makes it worth it.

The stay

Guests single out the gardens, the comfy beds and how quiet the rooms are, with the surrounding bushland doing the calming. The wider Avocados venue doubles as a weekend-getaway and wedding spot, so the grounds can be busy on event days, another reason a settled dog suits the place best. Meals are an easy walk at the on-site bar and restaurant.

The address is 2 Mount Street, Kelmscott, central to the townsite and around half an hour from the Perth CBD. Parking is on-site and close to the rooms, which keeps the check-in walk short with a dog.

Close by with the dogs

The John Dunn Memorial Park fenced dog park is the obvious outing for an off-leash run, and the Harber Fenced Dog Park at Armadale is close by too.
