Local Luxe Cafe

Local Luxe Cafe is a cosy neighbourhood cafe at 88 Duthy Street in Malvern, serving coffee, brunch and lunch with a relaxed but polished feel, plus dinner service and drinks on Friday and Saturday evenings. For dog owners it is a footpath-table affair: the streetfront seats out front are where your dog is welcome, and the leafy Duthy Street setting makes that a pleasant place to sit.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables but not inside the dining room. The footpath seating is fairly intimate, so it suits a dog that is comfortable with passersby and close neighbours at the next table. Note that the outdoor tables sit on a shared public walkway rather than a private courtyard, so keep your dog tucked in on lead and bring your own water bowl rather than expecting one on hand.

The coffee is the anchor: specialty brews with fresh juice options alongside. The brunch and lunch menu runs from egg and bacon muffins to French toast and lunch bowls, with vegetarian and vegan dishes in the mix. It opens from 7am on weekdays and 7:30am on weekends, closing early afternoon, with shorter weekend hours overall. Friday and Saturday nights add a dinner service and happy hour, though a dog visit is really a daytime proposition here.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Duthy Street and the surrounding residential streets, with time limits to check on signage. Bus stops are close by on Duthy Street if you would rather walk in from further afield with the dog.

Pair it with

The streets of Malvern and neighbouring Unley are wide, leafy and quiet, which makes an on-lead wander either side of coffee easy, and the parks around Kingswood are roughly a kilometre off for a longer stretch of grass.
