A Mother's Milk Unley

A Mother's Milk is a busy all-day brunch cafe on Unley Road, open 7am to 3pm every day of the week, and one of the more reliable dog stops on Adelaide's inner south strip. The outdoor courtyard and the footpath tables out front both take dogs, so there is usually a way in regardless of how busy the room gets.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the courtyard and at the footpath tables; only assistance dogs go inside. Water bowls are usually out for pets. Keep your dog leashed and close to your chair, because the courtyard works hard at weekend brunch and the gaps between tables are not generous. Arrive early on Saturday and Sunday if you want a table with room to settle.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to generous brunch plates: the Big Mother breakfast, baked eggs, chilli eggs, hotcakes and falafels, with gluten-free bread available and smoothies and matcha covering the drink list beyond the coffee. It is a seven-day operation, which is rarer than it should be for a dog-friendly courtyard, and the 3pm close makes it a breakfast-and-lunch venue rather than an afternoon one.

Getting there and parking

The address is 105 Unley Road. Metered parking along Unley Road fills fast, so the side streets such as Arthur Street and Young Street are the usual fallback. It is also an easy walk from the Goodwood end of the suburb.

Close by with the dogs

Milton Gray Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is a short drive north for off-lead time before or after breakfast, and the neighbouring Just Down The Road and Spread Deli are the fallback cafes on the same strip.
