Canungra Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area on Coburg Road, on the edge of town near the showgrounds. It gives dogs a secure space to run on open, mown grass, which makes it a handy break during a Scenic Rim drive. Reviews are mixed, so go in with realistic expectations rather than expecting a marquee facility.

The rules. Keep your dog on lead until you are inside the fenced enclosure. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided. Owners are responsible for their dogs at all times, and dogs should not be left unattended.

What is there. The park is fully enclosed with secure fencing and has some shaded seating for owners. Bins are provided. There has not been reliable drinking water on site, so bring your own for both you and the dog, especially in warmer months.

Getting there. It is at 47 Coburg Road, a short drive from the centre of Canungra and an easy detour for anyone heading to or from Lamington National Park. Free parking is available nearby. There is no useful public transport, so this is a drive-in spot.

Watch-outs. The surroundings are rural, so be mindful of longer grass and overgrown edges in the warmer months when snakes are more active.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafe Metz and other pet-friendly cafes in town are a short drive away for a coffee once the dog has burned off some energy.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest; weekends are the busiest. Good for a secure off-leash run mid-journey, just pack your own water.
