Kamholtz Family Fenced Dog Park

Kamholtz Family Park's fenced dog area sits at the rear of 29 Souter Street in Nerang, on the edge of the Nerang Riverwalk. It is an agility-focused off-leash enclosure on City of Gold Coast land, open around the clock, and the combination of a secure fence, built-in obstacles and a freshwater creek nearby makes it a regular for high-energy dogs and recall training.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies only inside the fully fenced enclosure; on the Riverwalk and the wider park grounds your dog must stay on lead, and playground zones are strictly off-limits to dogs under council local laws. Stay inside the fence with your dog, carry a lead at all times, and walk the fence line and gates for gaps before unclipping a bolter. Agility obstacles give the run structure, and a drinking fountain and tap handle the water side. Waste bags and bins are provided and cleaning up is mandatory.

Worth knowing

There are no public toilets on site; nearby Swift Park carries toilets, a playground and barbecues if you need them. The ground is grass with established tree cover, and after rain it churns to mud fast, with the creek and wet season doing the rest, so bring a towel. Local feedback over the years has flagged friction when big and little dogs share the single space, so read the crowd on arrival rather than committing your dog to a bad mix.

Pepsi: the fence is reassuring but it is not a babysitter. If the size mix looks wrong when you walk in, wait ten minutes or come back at a quieter hour.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is at the rear of 29 Souter Street in a residential pocket, so it is mostly a local walk-in or a short drive with street parking nearby. Nerang's town centre and its train station are about five minutes away, and the Riverwalk connection means you can fold the park into a longer on-lead walk along the river.

When to go

The park runs busiest around 7am to 8am and 4pm to 5pm on the commute pattern. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is the calmest and usually the driest underfoot.
