Pets are welcome upon application, typically capped at two, and you need to declare them before completing the booking. A pet cleaning fee of around $100 applies, and a refundable security deposit of around $500 is commonly required for pet stays. Service animals are exempt from fees. The property is not described as fully pet-proof, so keep an eye on your dog around garden boundaries and the pool. Get the approval, the fee and the deposit terms in writing before you pay anything.

The place

The house is the draw: a large Hamptons-style home with wrap-around verandas, manicured gardens and flat grassy areas, plus a fenced 16-metre saltwater pool that guests rate highly. Beds get repeated praise in reviews. The kangaroos that graze through the grounds are a genuine feature rather than a marketing line, and they are worth managing your dog around. Worongary's shopping complex is about five minutes away for supplies.

Getting there

Worongary sits in the hinterland foothills roughly 20 minutes inland of the Gold Coast beach strip, the theme parks and Robina Town Centre. You will want a car: it is a quiet residential-hobby-farm area, and groceries are a short drive rather than a stroll.

Close by with the dogs

For coffee without leaving Worongary, Cafe By Blackboard SkyRidge and The Coffee Kiosk are the local options. Shack and Co in neighbouring Mudgeeraba is a few minutes further, and the Hinterland Regional Park Fenced Dog Park gives your dog a proper off-lead run in secure surrounds.
