Sharp Park River Bend Country Bush Camping

Sharp Park River Bend Country Bush Camping is a rustic, dog friendly campground on the Coomera River at Witheren in the Gold Coast hinterland, off Beechmont Road and about ten minutes from Canungra. The draw is simple: pebbled creek and river swimming, tubing, and a fire pit at every site.

Dogs at Sharp Park

Dogs are welcome across the camping grounds on leashed, restrained terms, on both the powered and unpowered grassy sites. They must not be left unattended, wander onto neighbouring private property, or bother other campers, and all droppings are cleaned up immediately. No separate pet fee is published, so the standard site rate covers the dog.

Max: the river access is on lead territory for most dogs. It is a pebbly bottom with current after rain, so wade in first and pick the calm eddies.

The site itself

This is unpretentious country bush camping: flushing toilets but no showers, firewood available for purchase, above ground fire pits subject to fire restrictions, and campsites you park directly on, accessible for cars, vans and caravans. Bring the dog's own water, food and bowls because nothing is stocked on site.

Getting there

The campground sits directly off State Route 96 on the riverbank, with a long stretch of scenic bushland walking on the property. Canungra township is the nearest supply stop and the Gold Coast is an easy drive back down the range.

While you're out there

Cafe Metz and Giddyup Gelato Cafe in Canungra both work for dogs at outdoor tables, and Canungra Dog Park gives a secure off lead run if the leash rules at camp have left energy to burn. The Canungra Hotel covers a straightforward pub dinner.
