Giddyup Gelato Cafe Canungra

Giddyup Gelato Cafe is a gelato-and-coffee stop in the heart of Canungra, on the main road that carries traffic up to Lamington National Park, and the venue confirms it is dog-friendly on its own channels. It makes an easy post-walk treat stop after a morning in the hinterland.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating on the frontage, so you can sit with your dog while you work through a scoop or a waffle. Water bowls are usually on hand, and staff will field questions about treats. Keep the lead on, since the frontage sits on the town's main street with a constant parade of 4WDs, motorbikes and tourists in season.

The draw is freshly scooped gelato in a wide range of flavours, backed up with Belgian waffles, thick milkshakes and coffee, plus light cafe meals including pizza. It is a sweet-tooth stop more than a full-meal one. Hours run 8am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 8pm Friday to Sunday.

Getting there and nearby

It sits on Kidston Street, the main street through Canungra, with street parking out the front. The town gets busy on weekends with motorcyclists and tourists heading for the national park, so you may need to park a short walk away. The Canungra Creek footbridge and the green space in the middle of town are both a short walk off the main street for a leg stretch, and the fenced run at Canungra Dog Park is close by.
