Yering Farm Wines

Yering Farm Wines is a family-owned vineyard in the heart of the Yarra Valley, operating since 1989. For dog owners, the drawcard is clear: dogs are welcome right inside the cellar door - a converted 70-year-old hay barn - as well as across the outdoor areas, meaning you can settle in for a proper tasting without leaving your mate at the gate.

The dog setup. Dogs are permitted on the verandah, in the outdoor seating areas, and inside the cellar door barn itself. They must be kept on-lead at all times and under control, and you're expected to clean up after your pet. There's a large lawn area in front of the cellar door that's ideal for stretching legs, and you can BYO picnic food onto the lawn to make a proper afternoon of it - just no BYO alcohol. Water bowls are often provided, but it pays to bring your own if you're planning to picnic.

Known for. Cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the standouts here, alongside their own orchard apple cider. Food-wise, the Pruners Platter - local cheeses, olives and pickles - is the go-to, best enjoyed on the verandah with views across to the Yarra Ranges. In winter, the wood-burning fire inside the tin-shed barn makes it a warm, rustic spot when the valley turns cold.

Getting there & parking. On-site parking is available at 19-21 St Huberts Rd, Yering. It's a straightforward drive from Yarra Glen or Coldstream. Open daily 10am-5pm, and bookings aren't required unless your group is five or more.

Nearby with the dogs. If you're making a day of the Yarra Valley, Helen's Hill Estate in Lilydale is a short drive away with its own rustic barn cellar door and an outdoor fireplace. TarraWarra Yarra Valley Winery, Restaurant & Cellar Door in Yarra Glen is only a few minutes down the road and well worth pairing into a Yarra Glen loop.
