Seabrook Wines

Seabrook Wines is a boutique, family-run cellar door at 1122 Light Pass Road in Vine Vale, set in a restored 1800s settler's cottage looking over the Home Block vineyard and the Barossa foothills. Winemaker Hamish Seabrook works in small batches, with a reputation built on premium Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the usual Barossa varietals, and the whole setup is casual rather than polished.

Dogs in the outdoor areas

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome on the deck, the lawn and in the courtyard garden, but not inside the cottage itself, so plan your visit around outdoor seating. Shade coverage on the deck varies through the day, so pick a morning or late afternoon slot in summer rather than the middle of the day. Water bowls may be on hand, but bringing your own is the safer bet. It is a small, intimate tasting space, so a dog that settles on a mat will fit in far better than one that patrols every table.

Max: tasting flights on the deck with the vineyard in front of you, dog at your feet, is the whole appeal here. Book ahead on weekends because the space is small.

Worth knowing

Seabrook also runs luxury accommodation on the same property, and that side of the operation has a strict no-pets policy, with a resident dog of their own on site. So the welcome is real but specific to a cellar door visit, not an overnight stay. Tastings are best paired with a grazing board on the deck. Hours are Thursday to Monday, 11am to 5pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Getting there and parking

Vine Vale sits between Tanunda and Angaston on the Barossa's quieter eastern side. From Tanunda it is roughly a ten minute drive along Light Pass Road, with similar distances from Nuriootpa and Angaston. There is a free on-site car park right at the cellar door, and the drive from Adelaide takes about an hour.

Turkey Flat Vineyards in Tanunda is another historic, dog-tolerant cellar door on the same side of the valley, and Gibson Wines at Light Pass keeps the rural theme going a few minutes north. Darling's Food With Passion Cafe in Tanunda makes a solid coffee and breakfast stop before the drive out, and Nuriootpa fenced dog park gives the dog a proper run on the way home.
