Artisans of Barossa

Artisans of Barossa is a collective cellar door at 24 Vine Vale Road on the edge of Tanunda, pouring small-batch wines from a stable of family-owned Barossa makers under one roof. Instead of driving between cellar doors, you can taste across dozens of producers in one stop, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you on the lawn.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the expansive outdoor areas and large lawns, kept on a lead at all times, but not inside the tasting room or the restaurant. The lawn is roomy with vineyard views, comfortable for a casual tasting or a spread-out picnic while the dog settles at your feet. Water bowls are generally provided, though bringing your own is the safer bet on a busy weekend.

The vibe

The format is the point: rare and small-batch wines from across the region, relaxed all-day options at the Delikatessen with its charcuterie boards, and seasonal dining at Essen. Staff have a reputation for being welcoming, and tasting flights and food pairings are the usual reason people book. Reserve ahead, especially for weekend tastings.

Getting there and parking

The address is 24 Vine Vale Road, Tanunda, with free off-street parking on site and flat, easy access from the car park to the lawn. Hours run 10am to 5pm Wednesday through Sunday; the cellar door is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Vine Vale Road itself is a quiet route for an on-lead vineyard walk before or after tasting. Other cellar doors in town include Turkey Flat Vineyards and St Hallett Cellar Door and Winery, and the Tanunda main street is a short drive for dog-friendly cafe courtyards.
