Nuriootpa Fenced Dog Park

A fully fenced off-leash park on the banks of the Para River, right in the middle of Nuriootpa. The draw is the secure double-gated setup with separate zones for small or timid dogs and bigger, busier ones, so you can let your dog off without worrying about the road or a mismatched playmate.

The rules. Keep your dog leashed until you are inside the securely gated, fully fenced area, then it is off-leash within. Owners must supervise at all times, and any dog that turns aggressive or gets overwhelmed should be leashed and moved on. Bins and bag dispensers are provided and cleaning up is mandatory.

What's there. Two separated sections (small or timid versus active dogs), agility gear including bridges, tunnels and weave poles, drinking water for dogs, and shaded seating and shelters for owners. The perimeter fencing is solid, and there are accessible entrances plus parking close by.

Getting there. The park sits on Penrice Road, well signposted near the Para River and a short run from the town centre. On-site accessible parking is available, and the riverside walking paths mean you can stroll in for a warm-up before letting the lead off.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes along the Nuriootpa and Angaston main streets do outdoor seating for well-behaved dogs, and the Para River linear paths link back through town for a longer leashed walk.

When to go. Weekday mornings before 9am and early afternoons are the quiet windows. Late afternoons from about 4pm to 6pm and weekends are busiest as locals arrive after work. Time it for a quieter slot if your dog finds crowds a lot.
