Williamstown Fenced Dog Park

Williamstown Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed off-leash area inside Queen Victoria Jubilee Park on Springton Road, at the southern gateway to the Barossa. Established pines shade the whole yard, giving it a cool, woody feel, and it is a straightforward, secure spot to let a dog run properly without worrying about traffic or a bolt for the gate.

The dog setup

Perimeter fencing encloses the ground with a double-gate entry, which is handy if your dog likes to rush the gate. Some agility equipment breaks up the run, and waste bag dispensers and bins sit on site. Wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking make it workable for everyone. The pine canopy keeps most of the ground shaded, but expect the pine needle litter to get slippery and messy after rain. Dogs must stay under effective voice control even inside the fence, owners should keep an eye on their dogs at all times, and a reactive or disruptive dog should be stepped out to give others space.

Max: Use the double gate properly. Close the outer gate before opening the inner one so nothing slips past if your dog is quick off the mark.

Getting there

The park is at 15 Springton Road, Williamstown, reached by car along the town's main road. Public transport around here is limited, so driving is the practical option, and on-site parking includes accessible spaces. The wider Queen Victoria Jubilee Park has open green space, shady trees and picnic facilities, and the caravan park at its edge makes this an easy stop for travellers passing through the Barossa with a dog.

Make a day of it

For coffee, The Kiosk by d'Asporto is the local stop, and Lyndoch's cafes a few minutes up the road are famously accommodating with water bowls for visiting dogs.
