Kellermeister

Kellermeister is a boutique, family-owned cellar door at 1561 Barossa Valley Way on the southern edge of Lyndoch, set on a ridge with views right across the valley floor. It is one of the easier Barossa tastings to do with a dog in tow, with a covered deck and lawn area that make a long, lazy sit entirely reasonable.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome on the outdoor deck and lawn overlooking the vines, and staff have a genuine reputation for looking after four-legged guests. Ask inside about the mudbrick cellar door itself, since indoor access is handled case by case. Bring your own water bowl and a mat, because the venue does not advertise dedicated dog amenities.

The vibe

The pours lean premium Barossa: Shiraz, ancestor-vine Grenache and Eden Valley Riesling, plus craft apple cider and fortifieds, with tastings from around $15. Local produce and cheese platters pair well with the deck until mid afternoon. Guests repeatedly call out the knowledgeable, unhurried service, and it feels like a small cellar door rather than a coach-stop operation.

Worth knowing

Saturdays are the walk-in day, running from about 10:30am to 5pm, while Monday to Friday visits are by appointment and Sundays are closed. Book ahead on 08 8524 4303 for midweek or groups, and aim for late morning on a Saturday before the deck fills.

Getting there and parking

It sits just off the main Barossa Valley Way at the Lyndoch end of the valley, about an hour's drive from Adelaide, with on-site parking at the door.
