Jadran Wines

Jadran Wines is a third-generation family winery at 87 Reservoir Road, Orange Grove, in the Perth foothills, established in 1929 and one of the rare wineries inside the metropolitan area where a dog is genuinely part of the plan. It is a rustic, picnic-friendly property pouring more than 30 varieties of table wines, liqueurs and award-winning fortifieds at free tastings.

The dog setup

Dogs on a lead are welcome across the property, and the winery's own visitor notes extend that welcome to the cellar door itself, with outdoor tables the comfortable option on a warm day. Keep your dog close and settled around other guests, particularly when live music draws a crowd on weekends, and clean up after them. Bring a water bowl to be safe.

Worth knowing

The house specialities are the fortifieds, including the green ginger wine and blackberry nip that regulars come back for, alongside muscat and liqueurs. Bring your own picnic to go with the wine, or pick up local cheeses and nibbles on site. Resident kangaroos show up around the property at dusk, which is worth knowing if your dog has opinions about wildlife.

Getting there and parking

The winery sits just off Tonkin Highway at Orange Grove WA 6109, an easy drive from the Perth CBD or the airport side of town. Parking is free and ample on site, with a short walk to the tasting areas.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper off-leash run before or after your tasting, the John Dunn Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park in Kelmscott is a short drive south. The Kelmscott Dôme Café works for a dog-friendly coffee stop, and Avocados Bar & Café is another Kelmscott option. The Western Australia wineries list and the Orange Grove guide round out the area.

Max: Free tastings, a picnic on the lawn and a dog under the table is about as good as a Perth Sunday gets. Watch the dusk roos if your dog is a chaser.
