Valley Loop Trailhead - Forrestfield

The Valley Loop is a moderate walk in Mundy Regional Park, starting from the Lewis Road trailhead in Forrestfield and linking to the Lesmurdie Falls area. It is roughly a 3km loop of fire trail and narrow, rocky path, with views over the valley and the Perth skyline. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Leash status. Dogs must be on a lead at all times, and the area is patrolled with fines for off-lead pets. Keep to the path to protect the native jarrah and marri forest, and carry your own bags, as there are no bins on the trail.

What's there. A small gravel carpark at the end of Lewis Road, and a picnic area near the base of the falls. There are no toilets at the trailhead and no drinking water, so bring enough for you and the dog.

Getting there. Drive via Tonkin Highway, then Welshpool Road East, turning onto Lewis Road in Forrestfield. The end-of-street parking fills quickly in winter and spring, so arrive early. Public transport does not reach the trailhead directly.

When to go. Winter and spring for flowing water and wildflowers, ideally on a weekday morning for parking and quiet. Avoid hot summer days, as shade is limited in places. Good for fit dogs comfortable on rocky ground.
