Discovery Parks - Perth Airport at 186 Hale Road, Forrestfield, is a pet-friendly holiday park about 15 minutes from the airport. It suits travellers who want somewhere secure and convenient to stop with the dog, whether before an early flight or as a base for day trips into the Perth hills.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are welcome in designated pet-friendly cabins and on powered caravan and camping sites. The listed pet-friendly cabin is a Standard 2 Bedroom Cabin, and pet-friendly inventory is limited, so request it specifically. There is no hard weight limit published, but the park generally takes small to medium, well-behaved dogs, and a pet fee usually applies. Approval is not automatic, so phone the park to confirm your dog and dates before booking rather than relying on the online flow. Dogs must be on a lead within the park and are not allowed inside communal facilities such as the camp kitchen or laundry.

Max: landed, hooked up the van, and I had a grassy site before the humans finished arguing about dinner. The phone call ahead is the part people skip.

The place

Drive-through sites make caravan and motorhome parking easy, and there is a swimming pool, camp kitchen and BBQ area, with accessible cabins available. Check-in is from 2pm, with self-check-in after hours. It is a practical park rather than a resort, and that is exactly its appeal for an overnight or a working base.

Getting there and nearby

Access is easy off Roe Highway or Tonkin Highway, and the airport run is short enough to make pre-flight nights painless. Suburban streets and local parks in Forrestfield and High Wycombe are handy for lead walks. Note that dogs are not permitted in nearby national parks such as Lesmurdie Falls, so plan hills time around the on-lead regional park trails and the local off-lead areas instead.

For a proper off-lead run, The Hales Fenced Dog Park is a few minutes away, and Hartfield Park Dog Exercise Area adds a big open space for longer games. The Valley Loop Trailhead is a good on-lead option for a structured walk.
