The Hales Fenced Dog Park

The Hales is a purpose-built, fully fenced dog park in the Satterley estate at the corner of Crimson Boulevard and Wonderboom Way in Forrestfield, in Perth's eastern foothills. It is split into separate large-dog and small-dog runs, so you can pick the right side for your dog and let them off the lead in a secure space.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-lead within the fenced runs under control at all times, and smaller breeds get their own dedicated area. The gates are not self-closing, so latch them behind you on the way in and out. The park has two fenced zones with grassed areas, native planting, sandpits with boulders for enrichment, and shaded seating for owners. Waste bags are generally stocked and bins are provided. There is a water tap, but it sits outside the fenced area, so fill a bowl before you go in.

Max: check the small gaps along the fence line before you unclip. A dog that likes to test the boundary will find the weak spot faster than you will.

Worth knowing

Some smaller dogs have slipped under the fencing in spots, so keep an eye on determined escape artists. The larger run can get muddy through winter due to drainage, and there is no lighting, so keep visits to daylight hours. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest; it gets busy on weekend afternoons and on weekdays just after 5pm. Good for social dogs that enjoy company, and reassuring for small dogs thanks to the separate run.

Getting there and parking

Drive in via Dundas Road or off Roe Highway, with street parking along Crimson Boulevard and the nearby residential streets. The closest bus stops are in the surrounding Forrestfield streets, a short walk away. There are no public toilets or coffee van on site.

Hartfield Park Dog Exercise Area is the larger council off-leash space nearby, and Elmore Park Fenced Dog Park at High Wycombe is the next fenced option up the road.
