Dôme Café - Kelmscott

Dome Cafe Kelmscott sits on Albany Highway at 2810 Albany Highway in the Kelmscott town centre, one of the WA chain's biggest menu franchises: all-day breakfast, pancakes, burgers and its signature coffee from 6am to 5pm, seven days. For dog owners the draw is the large outdoor seating area, where dogs are welcome and a post-walk coffee stop has become a local habit.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed across the outdoor tables, and walkers regularly detour here straight out of the local reserves. Staff sometimes bring water out for visiting dogs, but it is not guaranteed, so pack a bowl in warm weather. The alfresco zone is roomy compared with most suburban footpath setups, which makes it easier to park a bigger dog out of the foot traffic.

Worth knowing

The menu is the standard Dome book: big breakfasts, pancakes, gourmet burgers, toasted and steak sandwiches, salads, and a full cabinet, with the chicken parmigiana and meat pies getting regular local mentions. Service runs from breakfast straight through to late afternoon without a kitchen changeover, so it works for an early coffee or a proper lunch with the dog at the table beside you. Weekends fill at brunch; a weekday table is easygoing.

Getting there and parking

The cafe fronts Albany Highway through the middle of Kelmscott, about half an hour's drive from the Perth CBD, with free parking on site including Saturdays. Kelmscott station is close by if you would rather arrive by train, and the footpath along the highway is pram-friendly all the way from the car park.
