Stockman's Ridge Wines

Stockman's Ridge Wines is a boutique, family-run cellar door at 21 Boree Lane, Lidster, about ten to fifteen minutes from Orange. It is built for lingering rather than a quick tasting: gravel and grass grounds with vineyard views, a fire pit, grazing boards, wine-and-chocolate pairings and regular weekend live music, with a come-as-you-are atmosphere that extends to well-behaved dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on-lead in the outdoor garden and grounds around the cellar door, which is where most of the seating lives anyway. Indoor access is not guaranteed; some well-behaved dogs are let inside, but check at the door rather than assuming. Water bowls are often out, though bringing your own bowl and a bottle of water is a sensible backup, especially on weekends when the music is on and the grounds are busier.

Worth knowing

The cellar door runs Wednesday to Friday 11am to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm, closed Monday and Tuesday. The wines are cool-climate Orange standards: Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay, poured alongside cheese and charcuterie boards. Saturday evenings stretch late with live music, so an early-afternoon or weekday visit is the calmer option if your dog is not keen on crowds or noise.

Max: confirm indoor access at the door if the weather turns. This is fundamentally an outdoor-garden venue for dogs, not a wet-weather fallback.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is on the north-west side of Orange off the Cargo Road, with free on-site parking on flat gravel and grass right by the entrance, an easy walk in with a dog. Mount Canobolas is close by for a longer on-lead walk if your dog has energy to burn after the tasting.

Close by with the dogs

The Orange region is dense with dog-friendly cellar doors: Cargo Road Wines is just down the road, Heifer Station Wines has a relaxed paddock setup with animals to see, and Ross Hill Wines and Mortimers Wines are both short drives away.
