Swagman Homestead is a three-bedroom whole-home stay on the grounds of Stockman's Ridge Wines at Lidster, about 10 minutes from Orange, and it takes dogs for overnight stays. You get an entire farmhouse rather than a room: open-plan living, a full kitchen, a wood fire for winter and a veranda looking over the vines. The cellar door and its lawn areas are a short walk across the same property.

Being on a working vineyard also means normal farm activity goes on around you, worth considering for a nervous dog.

Getting there and parking

The homestead is on the Stockman's Ridge property at 21 Boree Lane, Lidster, roughly 15 to 20 minutes' drive from Orange's CBD. Parking is at the door, which makes arrivals with crates and gear uncomplicated.
