Machin Park Fenced Dog Park on Gardiner Road is Orange's fully fenced, double-gated off-leash option, open 24/7. Mature shade trees and a generous open run make it a comfortable, secure spot for a game of fetch, the easy pick when you want a fence around the dog.

The rules. Fully fenced with double gates, so dogs can run off-leash inside. Keep your dog under voice control. Bag dispensers are on site, but pack your own in case they are empty.

What's there. Plenty of natural shade from large trees, seating for owners, and a solid open area for running. One catch on water: the tap is located outside the enclosure near the road crossing, not inside the fence, so fill a bowl on the way in. No public toilets on site.

The water tap is outside the fence by the road, so top up before you go through the gates rather than ducking out with the dog loose. Neighbouring yards back onto the fence too, so a barky boundary can distract some dogs.

Getting there. Gardiner Road, Orange. Easy off-street parking right by the gate. Best reached by car.

Nearby with the dogs. Central Orange cafes, about 5 to 7 minutes' drive, have dog-friendly outdoor seating for after.

Best on weekday mornings if your dog prefers quiet; evenings and weekend mornings are the busy stretches. Good for dogs that enjoy a fenced run with shade.
