Bensons Cafe

Bensons Cafe is an early-opening brunch spot on Summer Street in the middle of Orange, pouring coffee from before six on weekdays while the rest of the town is still waking up. For dog owners the draw is the footpath seating out front: a straightforward, central coffee stop on a walk through town, no courtyards or codes to crack.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and front footpath tables, leashed, and the staff have a good reputation for bringing out a water bowl when asked. The kitchen does a broad brunch and lunch menu, and the eggs benedict, hash browns and tradie burgers get regular mentions from regulars. Hours run from 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday and from 7am on weekends, which makes it one of the more reliable early stops in Orange. It is a compact, busy room with a local crowd, so mid-morning on a dry day, after the first rush has thinned, is the easiest window to land a table with a dog in tow.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 2/240 Summer Street, central Orange. Free street parking sits out front but fills through the morning peak, with side streets and council car parks as the backup. The strip is flat and easy to walk with a dog.

Close by with the dogs

Cook Park and Robertson Park are both a short stroll away for an on-lead green stretch before or after your table, and Anzac Park's fenced dog area is a quick drive if your dog needs a proper run. For other stops in town, Oliver Brown is a central favourite and Harley & Hem Coffee Brewers pours nearby.
