Lambert Estate Wines

Lambert Estate Wines is a boutique cellar door at 55 Long Gully Road in the hills outside Angaston, in the Barossa, with views over the ranges and a range that goes beyond the usual Shiraz. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and decking areas on a lead, which makes it a straightforward tasting stop with the dog settled beside you rather than left in the car.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs are welcome across the outdoor grounds and exterior seating around the cellar door. They are not permitted inside the main tasting room or the on-site restaurant, so ask for an outdoor table or check the arrangement on arrival. Water bowls are often put out, but bring your own plus treats to be safe. On hot afternoons the deck can catch full sun, so pick the shaded side or come earlier in the day. One boundary to note: the estate's on-site accommodation does not take pets inside the rooms, so this is a day-stop rather than an overnight base.

The vibe

The wines lean adventurous for the Barossa: Zinfandel, Tempranillo and Viognier alongside the expected reds, plus a sparkling that regulars single out, and the chocopaire-style wine and chocolate pairings built with their own chocolatier. The restaurant serves lunch, and platters cover the casual end. Tastings are free. The cellar door opens 7 days, 11am to 5pm, with weekday lunch the calmer window for an outdoor table with a dog.

Getting there and parking

The estate sits on Long Gully Road, a short drive from the Angaston township and handily placed between Tanunda and Angaston if you are stringing stops together. Parking is on site right at the cellar door, so the walk in is short and lead-friendly.
