Pembury Cottage

Pembury Cottage is a three-bedroom holiday home at 14 Murray Street in the middle of Angaston, a five-minute walk from the Barossa village's main strip. Dogs are welcome on request and stay free per its listings, which makes this one of the more straightforward pet-friendly house bookings in the valley: no pet fee to argue about, just a host to confirm with.

Pets are allowed on request, and the booking sites list them as staying at no extra charge. Food and water bowls are provided, so you can leave the travel set at home if you are driving in. The house has a private garden and outdoor grill, giving a dog a patch of grass to settle on while you cook, and it is worth raising any garden gate or fence questions with the host at booking if your dog needs a fully secure yard.

One caveat from research: a separate provider surfaced a $40 per pet figure that appears to belong to a different property's general pet-accommodation listing rather than this cottage. Ask the host to confirm the pet terms in writing when you book so nothing changes at check-in.

The place

Three large bedrooms, a living room with TV, a dining area and one bathroom, with a full kitchen carrying a dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Guests consistently call out the space, the walkable position and the well-stocked kitchen for self-catering. Check-out is 11:00 am, and there is free private parking on site. It suits a family or a couple of couples travelling with a settled dog rather than a farm-stay setup with acres to roam.

Getting there and out with the dog

Angaston sits at the eastern end of the Barossa, about an hour and a quarter from Adelaide. The Village Green and the Barossa Old Rose Repository are both walkable for a morning leg-stretch with the dog, and Yalumba is a short drive away. For a tasting run, Lambert Estate Wines and Thorn-Clarke Wines are both in Angaston, and Wanera Wine Bar is a restaurant option in town. If you are staying in a park instead, BIG4 Barossa Tourist Park at Nuriootpa is the other end of the valley.
