Macfaull Park

Macfaull Park is in Spearwood rather than Hammond Park, and it earns a place on the list for one reason: the City of Cockburn runs it as a dog off-lead exercise area. A lap of the paths can end with a proper run on the grass.

The City of Cockburn lists Macfaull Park as a designated dog off-lead exercise area, so your dog can come off the lead on the open grass. Families use the playground and the disc golf course too, so keep recall sharp around them.

The walk

Wide paved paths loop the perimeter, smooth enough for prams and older dogs. Inside the loop are broad lawns, mature shade trees, a disc golf course and a playground.

Drinking bubblers are on site, bins sit near the main entries, and parking is free in the car park and on the street. The council has hosted dog events here, and plenty of local owners treat it as their regular walk.

Max: Disc golf players throw across the open grass. Check the flight lines before you let a ball-mad dog loose.

When to go

Summer mornings are the pick, before the open grass heats up and while the big trees still shade the paths. The flat, sealed loop suits older dogs, with a free run on the side for the young ones.
