The Salty Dog Beach Cafe

The Salty Dog Beach Cafe sits right on the sand end at 25 Rollinson Road, North Coogee, a small kiosk-style cafe that keeps coffee, acai bowls and breakfast wraps flowing for the dog beach crowd. It is about as dog-friendly as a cafe gets: dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, and the counter stocks dog treats so nobody in the party misses out.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in at the outdoor tables and the grass and sand around the kiosk, on lead, with treats at the counter and water available for hot mornings. The whole point of this stop is that it sits beside the North Coogee Dog Beach, so a swim, a run off lead and a coffee happen in one trip. Early morning is the rhythm here: doors open at 6:45am and the beach walkers come through steadily until the kitchen winds down.

The vibe and the menu

This is quick beach food rather than a sit-down brunch: acai bowls, breakfast wraps, toasties, panini, smoothies and the homemade cinnamon buns regulars come back for. Hours run 6:45am to 1pm Monday to Friday and to 3pm on weekends. It is a walk-up counter, so there is no indoor table issue for dogs at all, and the playground next door keeps it family-heavy on weekends.

Getting there and parking

Rollinson Road runs down to the foreshore at the northern end of the Cockburn coast, with parking along the beachfront reserve. Off-leash swimming at the dog beach is the main event, and the cafe is the recovery stop.
