Fremantle Village

Fremantle Village is a caravan and camping park at 25 Cockburn Road in South Fremantle, about 500 metres from South Beach and an easy trip into central Fremantle. For dog owners the detail that decides everything: pets are welcome on the caravan and camping sites, but not inside the park's cabins or chalets.

The pet setup

Dogs can stay on powered and unpowered sites, so you need to arrive with a van, camper or tent rather than booking built accommodation. Dogs stay on a lead at all times within the park grounds and you are expected to clean up after them straight away. No pet fee is published, so confirm any charge and the site rules when you book rather than assuming.

The park

Expect a working holiday park rather than a resort: powered and tent sites, chalets for the humans-only bookings, a camp kitchen and clean amenities blocks. Its pull is location, with the beach and the South Terrace cafe strip both within reach and public transport running into Fremantle.

Max: the cabins are the trap here. Book the site, not the chalet, or the dog stays in the car and the whole trip gets complicated.

Getting there

The park entrance is on Cockburn Road, the main coastal route south from Fremantle, with parking at your site. Buses run along the road into Fremantle if you would rather leave the van parked up, and South Beach is close enough to walk without touching the car.

While you're out there

South Beach Dog Off Leash Area is the obvious morning run, with the foreshore reserve at Fremantle Groyne adding more lead-friendly ground along the same stretch. South Beach Cafe sits at the beach end for coffee with the dog on the way back.
