Sasida Café

Sasida Cafe is a small, family-run local on Greenslade Street in Hamilton Hill, open from 6am on weekdays and 7am on Saturdays, closed Sundays. Locals rate it as much for the food as the coffee, which is rarer than it should be, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables.

The dog setup

Dogs settle with you at the outdoor seating, a relaxed, compact setup rather than a sprawling courtyard. That suits a coffee and a sit more than a long lunch with a big dog underfoot, and staff are happy to help if you ask. A dedicated water bowl is not guaranteed at every table, so bring a portable one on warmer mornings. The room inside is small anyway; the outdoors is where the dog belongs here.

Worth knowing

The kitchen does proper breakfast work: eggs benny, smoothie bowls, scones and savoury muffins, with sausage rolls that earn their own mentions. There is a kids corner, which tells you the crowd skews local and family, and service has a patient, unhurried reputation. Gluten-free options are covered too. It fills with regulars, especially on Saturday mornings before the 2pm close, so early is easier with a dog.

Getting there and parking

Sasida sits at 5 Greenslade Street in a quiet residential pocket of Hamilton Hill. Street parking runs along Greenslade and the surrounding streets, and driving is the practical option since no bus stops at the door.

Close by with the dogs

Flip Espresso is the suburb's other dog-friendly cafe if you are turning it into a crawl. For real exercise, the off-lead sand at Jervoise Bay Dog Beach at Coogee is a short drive west, and makes a good pre-breakfast run on a calm morning.
