LA Moon is the Asia-infused cafe tucked into the Kardinya shops, serving WA-roasted coffee alongside a Taiwanese-inspired brunch menu, and it earns its spot on a dog-owner's shortlist honestly: reviewers call out the dog treats that arrive at outdoor tables almost as often as the Eggs Benny.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area only, with no indoor access, and the topic tags on the cafe's own listings include dog friendly and dog treats, a combination that reflects what regulars experience. Worth knowing

The kitchen works Taiwanese street food into a brunch format: the Karaage Chicken Rice Bowl, the beef sukiyaki rice bowl and a properly good matcha latte are the orders that keep people coming back, with a cinnamon roll for the sweet tooth. Coffee is roasted locally through Crema Coffee Co, and staff have a friendly, unhurried reputation. Doors open 7am on weekdays, 8am weekends, closing around 2pm daily, so it is a morning-to-lunch venue.

Getting there

The cafe sits at 4/18-20 Barber Avenue in Kardinya, south of Murdoch. There is a small onsite car park, and the surrounding residential streets take the overflow when it fills.

Make a day of it

The fenced Piney Lakes Dog Play Park in Winthrop is the obvious pairing for an off-lead run either side of coffee, and The General Sherman (TGS) up in Murdoch is the neighbouring dog-friendly cafe if you are plotting a two-stop morning.
