Piney Lakes Reserve Off Leash Dog Park covers the fenced dog play area and the surrounding off-leash zones of Piney Lakes Reserve, entered off Murdoch Drive in Winthrop. The fenced play park opened in 2022 with separate zones for small dogs, all dogs, and an agility area, and it sits inside a much bigger reserve of paved paths, bushland, a lake and a waterfall.
The rules. Dogs can run off-leash in the designated areas of the reserve and inside the fenced play park, but must go back on lead near the playground, picnic areas and any sensitive environmental zones. Keep dogs under control, close every gate behind you, and clean up straight away.
What's there. Agility equipment and water bubblers with bowls in the fenced park, plus free parking, public toilets, picnic tables and barbecues in the wider reserve. The reserve also links into the roughly 3.4-kilometre Piney Lakes walking trail if you want to extend the visit past the fenced area.
Getting there. Address is 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150, entering via Murdoch Drive. There's a large free car park right by the dog park, and Transperth buses stop nearby on Murdoch Drive and Leach Highway.
Nearby with the dogs. A handful of cafes in Booragoon and Murdoch have outdoor seating for a coffee after the walk. For accommodation, check pet policies directly with hotels in Melville, since not all of them take dogs.

Saturday and Sunday mornings between about 9 and 11am are the busiest stretch, along with weekday afternoons after 4:30pm. Weekday mornings and mid-day are quieter if you want the space to yourselves, and it's worth bringing water and sunscreen since shade is patchy in parts of the reserve.
