Kinkuna Park

Kinkuna Park in Eglinton is a large community park on Impressions Drive with a fenced off-leash dog enclosure built into a much bigger space, alongside an adventure playground, splash pad, basketball court and BBQ shelters. It is the kind of park where the whole household finds something to do while the dog gets a proper run.

Leash status

The dog enclosure is off-leash around the clock, but dogs stay on lead everywhere else in the wider park, including near the playground and splash pad. Even inside the fence, keep your dog under voice control and pick up after them; bins are provided but bring spare bags.

The dog setup

Paved paths loop the open lawn for a lead-on lap before or after a session in the enclosure, which suits dogs that like to settle before they socialise.

Max: keep dogs leashed near the splash pad. It draws young kids and is not set up as a dog area, even though it sits right next to the enclosure.

The vibe

This is a family park first, with a big wooden playground, water play for hot days, picnic tables and paved paths that suit prams. Expect the enclosure to be shared with plenty of neighbourhood regulars, and the oval and open lawn to be in use on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Impressions Drive just off Marmion Avenue in Eglinton, with free street parking usually easy to find nearby. Buses serve the wider estate, but most visitors drive.

When to go

Sunday mornings are the busiest stretch, when families and dog owners overlap. Weekday afternoons are the quiet window if you want the enclosure to yourselves.

Eglinton Dog Park in the Amberton estate offers a second fenced option, and the Amberton Beach Bar and Restaurant keeps dogs in its outdoor sea-view seating a couple of minutes away.
