The Church Block Cafe

The Church Block Cafe sits at 1/27 Alexander Street in Eglinton, just north of Bathurst, beside the local heritage church that gives it its name. It is a small morning cafe with umbrella-shaded outdoor tables where well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.

The dog setup

Take one of the relaxed outdoor tables in the sun and your leashed dog can settle alongside you. There is no indoor access for pets, so on cold mornings rug up rather than expect a seat inside.

Hours are short and breakfast-shaped: 8am to 12pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays, with the odd shift during school holidays. Come early if you want the full cake cabinet to choose from.

The vibe

The draw is specialty coffee, quiche, cakes and toasties served by staff regulars describe as polite and friendly. It is a cute, small-village sort of place rather than a big brunch room, and the outdoor tables fill quickly on weekend mornings.

Pepsi: it is a morning-only spot, so plan the dog walk around it. Coffee and quiche first, then head into Eglinton Dog Park while the day is still cool.

Getting there

The address is 1/27 Alexander Street, Eglinton NSW 2795, on the old Bathurst to Kelso road corridor about ten minutes from the city centre. Parking is on street out the front and along Alexander Street.

While you're out there

For an off-leash run afterwards, the Eglinton Dog Park and Kinkuna Park Fenced Dog Park are both close, with the Kinkuna Park walk in between. In Bathurst itself, Gunthers Lane Cafe is another central coffee option.
