Cafe West

Cafe West is a locally owned cafe in the Westpoint Shopping Centre at Shop 8, 1 Wark Parade, Windradyne, on Bathurst's western side. Because it sits in a shopping centre complex, dogs join you at the outdoor tables only, and the open-air layout makes that an easy arrangement: order at the counter, grab a spot in the sun and settle in with the dog. It opens Monday to Friday from 6am, Saturday from 7am, and Sunday 7am to midday.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, on lead and well behaved around other patrons. Staff are friendly towards visiting dogs and treats and puppucinos are on offer, though there is no confirmed water bowl at the tables, so bring your own. This is a quick, no-fuss kind of stop rather than a destination brunch.

The coffee and the pies

The coffee is Fish River Roasters, a Bathurst roaster, and the kitchen turns over Poor Boyz Pies made fresh daily alongside croissants, toasties, wraps and a cabinet of sweet things. Gluten-free options are available. The early 6am weekday opening makes it a natural first stop on the morning walk circuit.

Getting there and a run after

Westpoint has free parking with well over 160 spaces, including accessible spots, right off Wark Parade. For an off-leash stretch afterwards, the Booth Street Open Reserve in Windradyne carries a designated council off-leash area a few minutes away, and the fully fenced Kefford Street off-leash dog park towards central Bathurst adds a separate small-dog enclosure for dogs under 10 kilograms.
