Kefford St Off-Leash Dog Park

Kefford Street Off-Leash Dog Park is Bathurst's purpose-built fenced dog park, a few minutes from the CBD at 13 Kefford Street. Open around the clock and fully fenced with a double-gated entry, it splits into separate enclosures for small and large dogs, which is what makes it worth the drive over an unfenced suburban reserve.

The dog setup

Use the section that matches your dog: under 10kg in the small-dog yard, over 10kg in the large-dog yard. The perimeter is fully fenced, but supervision and effective voice control still apply, and any dog showing aggression gets leashed and taken out. Bags and bins are provided so clean up as you go. Both yards are grassed under mature trees with benches for owners, water taps and bowls on site, and agility gear including a tunnel and ramp. There are no public toilets or playground inside the facility.

Max: match the section to your dog's size and watch the gate at handover times. A fenced park only works if everyone latches up behind them.

The vibe

Weekends are busiest, particularly Sunday mornings, along with weekday afternoons after work. For a quieter run with a dog that finds crowds a lot, aim for a weekday mid-morning or evening. The split layout means small and timid dogs still get a usable yard even when the main section is heaving.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Kefford Street with easy access from the Bathurst CBD and on-street parking alongside, including accessible parking adjacent to the park. It is walkable from the surrounding residential streets, and lighting allows after-hours visits if you are working late.

Close by with the dogs

For the coffee afterwards, Cafe Viva and Gunthers Lane Cafe are Bathurst staples with outdoor tables, and the Wally Wombat Cafe over in Kelso is a quirky stop with dogs welcome outside. The Oliver Brown on the edge of town is another easy drive-in option.
