Café Viva

Cafe Viva sits at 107 William Street in the Bathurst CBD, a social-enterprise cafe run by Vivability that supports local employment. For a leashed dog the pitch is straightforward: friendly staff, outdoor tables out front, and a central position that turns it into a natural pause on a walk around town. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front, which is where to settle. Staff carry a warm reputation with pets, and the takeaway counter makes it easy to grab a coffee and keep moving if your dog would rather stroll than sit. Bring your own water bowl to be safe, as this is a small operation set up around human customers.

The vibe and the menu

The coffee is Black Market, with pastries from Bakehouse on Wentworth and cold drinks in the cabinet, plus catering when you need it. Hours run from about 6:30am to 1:30pm every day of the week, so it is a mornings-and-lunch spot across all seven days. The customer base is regulars picking up takeaway, which keeps the footpath side of things calm for dogs.

Free street parking runs along William Street and the surrounding CBD blocks. The cafe is an easy walk from anywhere in central Bathurst, and the town's grid layout makes it simple to fold into a longer loop.

Machattie Park is a short stroll towards George Street if the dog wants greenery afterwards, and the off-lead space at Kefford St Off-Leash Dog Park covers a proper run. Gunthers Lane Cafe and Moubar Vintage are other central stops for the dog-friendly circuit.
